About

Lisa Bennett is a contemporary artist known for her expressive and immersive approach to painting. Drawing inspiration from nature, landscapes and personal memories.

Early Inspiration

Lisa’s fascination with the Australian landscape began in the Upper Hunter Valley. The colours, light, and sounds of the countryside inspired her from a young age to express her sensory experiences of the bush through painting.

1975

Creative Foundations

After finishing school, Lisa relocated to the city and pursued a diploma in graphic design. She began working in a boutique design studio before branching out to start her own.

Design Career

Lisa ran a successful design business for over 25 years. Though creatively fulfilling, she eventually felt drawn back to her original passion: painting.

1989 - 2019

Return to Art

Lisa made the leap back into painting full-time. Her work began gaining traction as she explored expressive techniques inspired by the bush and sea. Rapid brushstrokes, emotion, and memory became central to her style.

2020

First Exhibition

Finally gathering a body of work, Lisa held her debut solo exhibition at 7 Clovelly Gallery. Rhythmic Landscapes: Connecting Memories to Places was met with overwhelming support. Around 70% of the artworks sold, and Lisa secured several commissions from collectors eager to have their own memory landscapes brought to life.
